B&W Illustrations Thoughout. Sturdy with some hinge and gutter cracks. Clean pages. Heavy exterior wear with fraying to spine ends and corners. Spine gilt faded but legible. A hard to find book of fiction from the middle 19th century, with text likely in the spirit of other domestic or sentimental novelists such as E. D. E. N. Southworth or Mary Jane Holmes. This book is holding and will stand up to use, but it shows heavy cover wear, a spine slant, and interior staining. Appears complete and is entirely legible. Recommended on the merit of its scarcity to collectors of 19th century novels for ladies.
